Australia is one of the worlds most lucky countries. We are big, sparsely populated, miles from anywhere and if you dig down you will find something China wants to buy. We are an island. If I wasn’t born here I would want to be born on another island like our brother/cousin New Zealand, or maybe even Newfoundland. You get the idea. I live in a very nice house with the most beautiful woman in the world. I don’t just refer to her pulchritudinous presence but her pure heart. We have 2 wonderful sons, with different personalities and interests. 2 cats also with differing ideas. We have 2 hens. Heaven

And yet I feel the future has let me down. I did not expect 2015 to deliver hover boards like Marty McFly found but I though we might have progressed a little more. I don’t expect continual and accelerating progress but I certainly did not expect us to go so far backwards in some areas. This frustrates me! For all those gurus trying to make things better here is a simple thought; “what did they do in the old days?” I don’t expect everyone to drive around in T-model Fords. I don’t expect anyone to.  But why, in 2015 does it take a bank 28 days to cash an international cheque? Their answer is they need to send the cheque back to the bank of origin. In 1969 NASA sent 3 men to the moon. Two of them got off for a stroll while the other went around the block, got back on board, came back home, all in less than 9 days. You only have to cash a cheque and being a bank, this should be your stock in trade.  Sorry, 28 days!
